HOUSTON, TX – May 31, 2018 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Gracefully Global Group LLC is pleased to announce that founder Graciela Tiscareño-Sato will be delivering the keynote speech at the Galena Park ISD Dual Language Summer Academy for educators teaching elementary school students in the district’s expanding Dual Language program.
“After having the opportunity to experience Ms. Graciela Tiscareño-Sato’s presentation at the annual TABE (Texas Association for Bilingual Education) conference, we were certain she would project her dynamic and inclusive views about the world, her story and our program during our Dual Language Summer Academy,” said the bilingual teacher organizers. “She’ll help us empower our bilingual educators and invite them to continue to defy the odds by encouraging their students to value the global thought #BilingualNoLimits.” –Sara Deniz, Sandra Delgado and Johanna Perez-Emmanuelli, GPISD Bilingual Department teachers
#BilingualNoLimits will be used as the event hashtag for those who want to follow the event on social media.
Ms. Tiscareño-Sato will share her educational experiences as an English Language Learner and celebrate the impact educators had on her life that positively affected her long-term professional and personal successes. She’ll entertain attendees with how she overcame cultural obstacles and mindsets to attend U.C. Berkeley as a four-year scholarship Air Force ROTC cadet. The speaker will share proof points of the many advantages of being a bilingual American with stories from her careers spanning global military aviation service (including a U.S. Embassy post in South America) and corporate marketing roles at both a German telecommunications company and an Israeli renewable energy equipment company. Tiscareño-Sato’s strategies will encourage teachers to spark and fulfill the ambitions of our Future Bilingual Professionals (FBPs) – the speaker’s forward-looking description of those we refer to today as ELL students.
“Ms. Tiscareño-Sato’s academic achievements and bilingual professional accomplishments in a variety of global industries brought our conference theme to life and jumpstarted our Adelante! Conference,” said Patricia Nuñez, President of AAABE who invited the speaker to keynote last spring in Austin. “She spoke to educators’ hearts, reminding them how critically important their work is educating our FBPs and a peek into what’s possible.”
As a social entrepreneur, publisher and sought-after speaker, Ms. Tiscareño-Sato is using her multilingual, multicultural, global life experiences to create award-winning, bilingual literature for our nation’s diverse school-aged populations who are now the majority in K-12 classrooms. Her mission is to positively showcase the contributions of Latino Americans in the USA, an increasingly-important mission as news reports air of Americans publically harassing people who speak Spanish – the first European language spoken on this continent.
“I’m delighted to join educators committed to developing MORE bilingual Americans,” stated the keynote speaker. “My hope is that journalists will spotlight the important work of educators like those in the Dual Language program at Galena Park ISD, in lieu of giving airtime and ink to a few monolingual people antagonizing my fellow Americans speaking Spanish, my first language learned at home as the daughter of Mexican immigrants. Plus, I’m thrilled that in addition to delivering the keynote, I’ll be facilitating a workshop at the Summer Academy titled How to Create Award-Winning Bilingual Children’s Books: A Workshop for Teachers. I’m part of a national movement to scale up the amount of children’s literature published in Spanish and in English, written by bilingual Americans. I find this timing just perfect.”
Graciela’s latest children’s book won First Place in the “Most Inspirational Children’s Picture Book – Bilingual” category at the recent International Latino Book Awards and was featured in USA Today. It’s the second book in this unique, bilingual picture book series featuring women in uniform. Every teacher attending the Dual Language Summer Academy will receive both bilingual books to share with students in Galena Park ISD classrooms.
Today Gracefully Global Group is also announcing unique NEW Virtual Author Visit Packages in Spanish and English. This digital video course + physical books combo will help teachers share this veteran’s inspirational daughter-of-immigrants biography and military aviation service highlights with their students before reading the books in elementary school classrooms globally. In the course, students will hear directly from the author as if she’s in the room, learn about the airplanes on which she trained and served and get a sense of the awesome global adventures she enjoyed as a military aviator. The latter led her to write the Captain Mama series, the first-ever children’s picture book series in Spanish and English about women in the military. Ms. Tiscareño-Sato has authored the third book in the series which will publish in approximately 18 months.
